I have become intrigued of A Gentle Easy Flowing River as performed by Gordon Bok. Playing against his Cello like instrument it has an other worldly sound in the melody. But I was quite taken by the lyric which lead me to the author, Alasdair Clayre. A pretty interesting lyricist. I find mostly short songs in the style of someone who just missed The Music Hall. And not unlike Flanders and Swan in some ways.

Youtube has a recording of his album Adam and The Beasts which starts with Easy Flowing River. (Who is the woman singing on those recordings?) Now I have two different melodies moving in my head for the same song, both pretty good. Is there more to discover? I have learned who was quite erudite and tried many pursuits. And also that he died way to young.

Don
