Subject: RE: Father, child, dying mother From: cnd Date: 24 Apr 25 - 07:38 AM Belafonte was in Australia in 1960, so it was probably that tour. I haven't watched it yet, but his entire 1981 performance for Parkinsons (link) is on YouTube. Apparently, he did intend to go into the bush and record aboriginal songs (link) -- perhaps he found a trad. song (obviously not of aboriginal origin) that he liked while out? |

Subject: Father, child, dying mother From: Jack Campin Date: 24 Apr 25 - 06:20 AM Question on Reddit: I'm doing some research into Harry Belafonte and found a news article that describes him performing “a song sung by a native father looking at the baby whose mother’s death is imminent” at a folk concert in Australia. Does anyone know what song this might be? |
