RIP Mike.
I saw a lot of Mike and Heather when I lived in East Anglia. Amongst other things he was the editor of Mardles, the regional folk magazine for some years, and I had a lot of contact with him when I took over the typesetting and layout of the magazine (and eventually the whole editor's job, but that's another story).

Condolences to Heather, Westrefelda Morris and all our friends in the   Suffolk folk world who knew him.

Don't think I'll be able to make the funeral, but I might play some morris tunes in his memory at the Bacca Pipes folk club the same evening.

from Westrefelda Facebook.
it is with great sadness that I have to announce that our musician Mike Bexon, well known to so many in the morris world here in Suffolk, died at home on July 3rd.
Members of Westrefelda Morris were aware that Mike was seriously ill last year but felt very humble that he decided to continue to play for us for as long as he possibly could. At the end of last year he informed us that his treatment made him too tired to continue, it had been an amazing effort on Mike’s part to have played for us through some of the toughest treatments he faced and we thank him for that.
When Mike joined our team it was as a ‘part time’ musician to play in conjunction with Gary Bennett Westrefelda’s musician. However, as Westrefelda got to know Mike, he realised that his cheeky, dry humour really fitted in well with the team and that led to him playing for us on many more occasions than we had originally expected.
In the last few years Mike was an absolute stalwart of Westrefelda Morris and we loved him being part of our team. I think he quite liked being part of us too!
We send our sincerest condolences to Mike’s family and to Mike’s wife, Heather Bexon, another stalwart on the folk scene. I thank Heather for allowing me to see Mike just days before he finally left us. It was so appreciated by all of the team as we wanted to let Mike know that we were thinking of him even though he could not be with us.
Heather asked me to pass on Mike’s funeral details to anyone who knew him and if you would like to attend his funeral in your Morris kit she would be most happy to see some dancing after the funeral at a local pub that she says Mike would have approved of.
If you would like to attend the funeral:
Bury St Edmunds Crematorium
Friday 8th August
2.30pm
And afterwards (where dancing will take place),
at The Morton Hall public House, Lawson Place, Bury St Edmunds, IP32 7EW
Please come and raise a glass and a dance to Mike if you can, he helped so many teams over the years and I am sure we can give him a good Morris send off.
?????? R.I.P. Mike ??????

I'm sorry to say that Mike Bexon has died. He was well-known in East Anglia as an excellent performer of the melodeon and piano accordion and played with Stowfolk with his wife Heather, making a much sought after Dance Band for ceilidhs in the east. He also played for Hageneath Morris Team when asked. His skill with the piano accordion and melodeon will be greatly missed. My condolences to all those who know and love him. RIP
