Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs starting with 'My name is ...' From: GUEST,mg Date: 02 Feb 26 - 01:46 AM I will post the words to Maureen Monahan here. A Monahan wrote me and said how did you know? I didn't know but his mother was in that same situation.. I might forget some of the words. Tune Wearing of the Green. My name is Maureen Monahan my age is 93 I have a little baby that they never brought to me It might have been a daughter it might have been a son I never got to see it so it could be either one. If a boy I named you Paddy if a girl I named you Clare And yes you have a father and his name is Jack O'Hare. And for you old Mother Ireland how could you use us so When we were young and pregnant and had no where else to go Babies in their little cribs and children eight or nine All starving in their little cribs???? and one of them was mine And when they drew their final breath in those buildings dark and dank They were wrapped up in their little shrouds? and thrown in the septic tank So farewell little Paddy and farewell little Clare If I had known what might have happened I'd have never left you there I'd have sold myself for pennies to sailors on the street But by God and all that's holy you'd have had enough to eat. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs starting with 'My name is ...' From: Aethelric Date: 29 Jan 26 - 04:02 PM Jarrow song by Alan Price My name is Geordie McIntyre, An' the Bairns don't even have a fire So the wife says "Geordie, go to London Town!" And if they don't give us half a chance, Don't even give us a second glance Then Geordie, with my blessings, burn them down Come on follow the Geordie boys, They'll fill your heart with joy They're marching for their freedom now Come on follow the Jarrow lads, They'll make your heart feel glad They're singing now, yes now is the hour My name is little Billy White, And I know what's wrong and I know what's right An' the wife says "Geordie, go to London Town!" An' if they don't give us a couple of bob, Won't even give you a decent job Then Geordie, with my blessings, burn them down Come on follow the Geordie boys, They'll fill your heart with joy They're marching for their freedom now Come on follow the Jarrow lads, The joy'll make your heart feel glad They're singing now, yes now is the hour Well I can hear them an' I can feel them An' it's as just as if they were here today I can see them, I can feel them An' I'm thinking nothing's changed much today Not all came here to stay their way and die But they would come and hit you in the eye Now's the time to realize that time goes on Nothin' changes, changes, changes Now I can feel them, I can see them An' it's as just as if they were here today I can feel them and I need them An' I'm thinking nothing's changed much today Not all that people stay their way and die But they would come and hit you in the eye Now's the time to realize that time goes on And nothin' changes, changes, changes My name is little Alan Price, I tried to be nice all of my life But I'm afraid that up to date it doesn't work Because when you lay some money down, The people try to put you down Now where do I stand, either side or not Come on follow this Geordie boy, He'll try and fill your heart with joy We're marching for our freedom now Come on follow this Jarrow lad, He'll try and make your heart feel glad We're sayin' it now, yes now is the hour |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs starting with 'My name is ...' From: Paul Burke Date: 29 Jan 26 - 02:08 PM Thanks Jack, that's led me on to this on YouTube: the same tune my mother used. Written by Fred Seaver in 1885, obviously transplanted to Manchester between then and my parents' heyday of the 1930s-40s. I wish I could remember more of the words. Or perhaps better not, depending on who wrote the relocated version. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs starting with 'My name is ...' From: Beer Date: 26 Jan 26 - 09:05 AM Canadian Newfoundland singer/songwriter Ron Hynes(passed away November 19th 2015) wrote the following. My name is nobody I'm a weary traveller out upon a lost highway I come all the way from hell with this tale to tell Like many here before me Calling to be set free My name is nobody And I am rightly blessed I heard a voice that cried out inside the wilderness I awoke and my heart and soul were in despair Like a sailor lost at sea No ship to rescue me My name is nobody CHORUS: So I take it one day at a time I walk the hard line above this blessed sod And I'm still living with this fear But I'm still here with all these children of god My name is nobody My name is nobody I'm a weary traveller out across a lost highway Every night as I lay down I say a silent prayer That morning light will find me here Without this cross to bear My name is nobody CHORUS: So I take it one day at a time I walk the hard line above this blessed sod And I'm still living with this fear But I'm still here I'm still living with this fear But I'm still here I am still living with this fear But I'm still here with all these children of god My name is nobody Adrien |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Songs starting with 'My name is ...' From: Acorn4 Date: 25 Jan 26 - 04:23 AM By coincidence I've just finished writing this one - it's about a serving maid burned at the stake in Leicester in 1605 for aiding and abetting in the murder of her mistress, for the crime of petty treason:- Alice Grimbold’s Tale My name is Alice Grimbold, in Leicester was employed In a position as a humble serving maid. For the killing of my mistress, guilty I was found And to be burned at the stake my sentence handed down. 1.Now Agnes was the landlady of the Blue Boar Inn Famous from that time when Richard was the King, And on that fateful final night before that battle it fell He brought his own bed to that inn, so that he might sleep well 2.For many years within that room that bed it had stayed put And many a gust slept well within without a second thought Now before Agnes’s husband died, a rumour spread around When that couple unexpectedly new wealth seem to have found 3. The bed had a false bottom, and contained within A hoard of gold and silver coins hidden by that King Until one day by accident, Agnes found this store When a single coin fell out and rolled onto the floor. 4. I met one Thomas Harrison, a rake and a roaring blade He courted me with a promise that we would be married But he proved a false knave to be, that led me to my fate To be thrust into those flames tied unto that stake 5. Now Thomas Harrison he did plot to steal away this store And to this end intrigued with one by name Edward Bradshaw And to this end I was led astray, accessory to be And my inside knowledge used to commit this felony. 6. This couple they then hired a room to bring about this plan Myself and the other maid were tied and taken to the barn But as part of this cunning plan, I was the set free, That chest of gold and silver to locate the keys 7. Now Agnes was securely bound but made a dreadful scene And being so terrified she began to scream Bradshaw the to silence her put his fingers down her throat Which led at last to the result that poor Agnes choked 8. Now this said Thomas Harrison very soon was caught And along with Edward Bradshaw to trial was soon brought And as an accomplice I was brought to trial And of my involvement I could make no denial 9. Those wretches soon were guilty found and on the gallows hanged But for the murder of my mistress I too was condemned For the crime of petty treason was decreed my fate That I would be taken on that day to be burned at the stake. 10, A curse on Thomas Harrison and that path he made me tread, And on Edward Bradshaw who killed poor Agnes dead A curse upon that wretched law that fell so hard on me Just a poor serving maid treated so badly My name is Alice Grimbold, in Leicester was employed In a position as a humble serving maid. For the killing of my mistress, guilty I was found And to be burned at the stake my sentence handed down |
