Subject: RE: Lyr Req: I Just want to be like the other girls From: Helen Date: 23 Mar 26 - 05:44 PM Thanks Hannelore. That information is helpful. I haven't heard of Ollie Woods but someone here at Mudcat might have more information. The description of a comedic song about a spinster pleading her case for a husband vaguely reminds me of a song but I can't pin it down. It might be an old song from a movie or something like that. Where did you see Ollie Woods perform? By that I mostly mean, which country was it? |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: I Just want to be like the other girls From: GUEST,Hannalore94 Date: 23 Mar 26 - 05:30 PM It was a woman who sang it solo without musical accompaniment, Ollie Woods if I recall correctly, with everyone joining on the chorus. There were a whole bunch of us singing different songs throughout the night. I meant to ask her then and there, but forgot. It was a fairly slow melody with a strong comedic tone. Unfortunately, I'm drawing a total blank as to the specifics of the rest of the lyrics, but I think the story of the song was that of a spinster pleading her case for a husband. Knowing my luck, it was original to her, I know the Wood's are a bit talented like that.. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: I Just want to be like the other girls From: Helen Date: 22 Mar 26 - 07:00 PM Hi Hannalore, When I searched the first line I only found the song Like Other Girls from Mulan 2: The Life of a Princess, but the lyrics are different. To help with the search could you provide more information, please? The usual questions: Do you remember any more of the lyrics? Please post what you remember to help with internet searches. When did you hear it or see it in written music collections? Was it recorded? Did you hear it on the radio, see it on TV, hear it on vinyl, CD, digital, YouTube, etc? Did you hear it live? Singer(s) male, female, a group, solo? Musicians? what instruments were used? Lively, haunting, slow, fast, dance tune, etc, etc? Does the music fit a specific genre e.g. pop, rock, folk, country, etc. (It sounds a bit like it is a comedy song, maybe.) Any more information would be helpful. |
