Subject: RE: Bonnie Rideout Tune Title From: GUEST,Wireharp Date: 07 Apr 26 - 08:40 AM It's also The Highland Laddie, a strathspey version of the tune found in Aird's Airs, 1778 #32 |

Subject: RE: Bonnie Rideout Tune Title From: Lighter Date: 07 Apr 26 - 08:07 AM Thanks, Jack and Helen. It's definitely a strathspey. I don't see any online liner notes. "The Session" prints the wrong music for this "Highland Laddie," btw. I'm not clever enough to do an ABC, but I'm sure someone will recognize the tune. |

Subject: RE: Bonnie Rideout Tune Title From: Jack Campin Date: 07 Apr 26 - 07:31 AM If you can transcribe the first two bars of each part into ABC I'll look it up in Gore's index. (My only internet access is an old phone so the transcription bit is difficult for me). Aren't Rideout's own liner notes/track listing available? |

Subject: RE: Bonnie Rideout Tune Title From: Helen Date: 07 Apr 26 - 01:44 AM The second tune starts 1 min 16s into the video. I'm not very knowledgeable on Scottish music but it sounds to me like a dance tune, e.g. a strathspey or similar. |

Subject: Bonnie Rideout Tune Title From: Lighter Date: 06 Apr 26 - 09:28 PM Can anyone ID the second tune of this Scots medley? The track is simply called "The Highland Laddie," which is tune number one. Tune number two sounds familiar, but I can't place it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OYJnCldi5U&list=OLAK5uy_khWIx4yg38dzTKdRGnx8rMFkB6gqq82_A&index=7 |
