He swam the irish channel
and last the tsugaroo strait
the hazards that he overcame
to many to relate
fighting with the current he strove against the tide
never knowing if hed make it or if hed live or die

This deed of endurance no one can deny
as he saw the distant shoreline
the waves came crashing high
his goal drew ever nearer the seagulls raised a cry
heres a toast to the rman from cork
who swam seven oceans wide
