Here's what I got! I couldn't find a credit for the song.

If I've got time later I'll put the tune up too.

Mick

LOVELY ERNESTINA
(Jim Bean)

I saw her there at a New Bedford Dock
This big black bully boat, all the talk,
Just one look and my heart was caught
Tell me have you seen her?
She's no man's yacht, she's a working boat
A piece of history still afloat
And she's known all along this Atlantic coast,
Lovely Ernestina.

    Chorus:
Power and grace in a following sea,
Feel her rise and roll, so fine and free,
Whistling wind makes the rigging sing,
Tell me have you seen her?
The grand old lady of the fishing fleet,
She charted the Arctic waters deep,
Was the immigrants' way to Americay,
    Lovely Ernestina.

All my days I've been a singer of songs,
Telling tales of the times that are past and gone,
But past is present as we sail along,
Tell me have you seen her?
We sing at the halliard, the throne and peak,
We sing for the windlass crank and creak,
For to warm the heart when the weather's bleak,
Lovely Ernestina.

    <instrumental break>

Now our topsails fly o'er the waters again,
If you love her as I do then I'll call you friend,
And we'll see this watch through to the end,
Tell me have you seen her?
Flying jib and jumbo, foresail and main,
Sing for the hauling and for heaving the chain,
Sometimes I sing just to praise her name,
Lovely Ernestina.

Here's a not-very-good recording of the song. Is anybody able to transcribe it?

Wasn't the late Mudcatter Karen K a regular on the Ernestina?

Keep watching this space. I think that several Mudcatters were involved with this ship, and one of them must know the song.

Something about this schooner:
SCHOONER ERNESTINA-MORRISSEY, was built in 1894 at the James and Tarr Shipyard for the Gloucester fishing fleet. Under Captain Bob Bartlett she sailed to within 600 miles of the North Pole, and later brought immigrants to the U.S. under the power of sail.

Does anyone know the lyrics of the song Lovely Ernestina,
by New Bedford Harbor Sea Chantey Chorus?
I'm not a native English speaker, quite difficult for me to transcribe this song's lyrics

Here are some informations i found about this song:
Chorus:
The grand old lady of the fishing fleet,
she charted the Arctic waters deep
and was the immigrant's way to America, lovely ernestina
