Come, you masters of war
You that build the big guns
You that build the death planes
You that build all the bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks
You that never done nothin'
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it's your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
When the fast bullets fly
Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain
You fasten all the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you sit back and watch
While the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion
While the young peoples' blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud
You've thrown the worst fear
That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatenin' my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood
That runs in your veins
How much do I know
To talk out of turn?
You might say that I'm young
You might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know
Though I'm younger than you
That even Jesus would never
Forgive what you do
Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good?
Will it buy you forgiveness?
Do you think that it could?
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul
And I hope that you die
And your death will come soon
I'll follow your casket
On a pale afternoon
I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand over your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead

Thanks, Henry! I fooled around with it and came up with this.

Style: varied finger picking with decorative hammer and pull flourishes

Pace: languid

Guitar tuning: Open G: DGDGBD

Chord formations:

G = x00000
Am7 = x02010
Em = 202002
F = x03210
Bm = x04030
C = x02012 or 555555
D = 020200

Progression: same for all verses (like Bob would). Two measures per line, common time. Slashes separate each measure (so the last measure is one just chord per beat):

G Am7 / G Em /
G F / G Am7 /
Bm Am7 / Bm Am7 /
Bm C / G D Am7 Am7 /

And of course you can resolve with a G at the end of the song — or an Em, if you want to get really maudlin.

Help yourself to any, all, or none of that. It was fun making it up.

Thank you, Catfish. There is more!

The Ballad of Bob Dylan/The Never-ending Tour

You’re on an endless journey, do you ever wonder why?
Every day another concert, every night another town
Every evening is a greeting, every morning a goodbye
Do you think that you can ever settle down?

It’s time you put an end to all your rough and rowdy ways
You always want to ramble, you always want to roam
You go hotel to hotel, and you live from day to day
Do you think that you will ever find a home?

Day after day, behind dark glasses, you drive from shore to shore
At night you stand before the lights in crowded concert halls
Your songs are your companions; no conversation, just applause
What will you do after the final curtain falls?

How many years can one man paint the lives we lead in song?
How many times can one man tell us what is right or wrong?
And when the stage is empty, your voice echoes in the space
There isn’t anyone to take your place

Words by Henry Peacock, Preston, England. I sing it unaccompanied.
But I can hear guitar and harmonica behind it. I add verses as the tour goes on and on.

Hey, Henry -

Did you write that? I like it. Are there chords to go with it? If there aren't, I'll make some up.

Whom should I credit on the song sheet?

Thanks!

Bob is coming to Blackpool, the most deprived town in England.

You’re on your way to Blackpool, where they’ll treat you with respect
Wealth isn’t shared there fairly, something we've always known
The rich man owns the property, and as you would expect
The poor man lives just like a rolling stone

Day after day behind dark glasses, you drive from shore to shore
At night you stand before the lights in crowded concert halls
Your songs are your companions; no conversation, just applause
What will you do after the final curtain falls?
