Becky Bernson, a singer, guitarist, song collector, and songwriter, passed away yesterday Feb. 11 at her home in Victoria BC, from cancer. Her husband Denis and her brother and other family members and friends were with her, and people were singing in the house. Those who knew Becky will remember her as an excellent musician, a patient teacher, and a caring person. I met Becky and her first husband Steve at a meeting of a madrigal group in Portland in 1983 or so. The group, Canto al Dente, never got off the ground, but we became friends. I just found out that she was also an early Mudcatter; there are some posts from her in the Forum from back in 1997. If anyone would like to know about her memorial service, send me a personal message and I'll put you in touch with someone who has the information.
