As an example of the community side - just recieved a tape of Cujun music - sent from Texas to Wales and I am enjoying listnening to it right now - wwhere else can we meet people who share music like this???

Bandwidth is not hardware. The video does not change anything. Considering what we are forced to use for lack of funds, even if i did not use video, the audio would go out at the same rate.

Try listening to Rick Feilding's shows, I'll bet that's more up your alley.

You're welcome here -- get the hang of it and you'll find it entertaining enough. Some of us get downright habituated.

For that, we have the Neil Young Center. I think they are offering beta versions of the educational implants on special this week...

Yeah man. Don't judge us by one show. Hang around awhile and get to know the folks. The show makes a lot more sense when you know who's talking. The are some very talented and interesting people who hang out at Mudcat.

New Fish On The Blck, give it a chance... There may be a lot of chat but there is als material that you won't hear elsewhere but is well worth listening to and I felt that the cd that Amos sent provided a good example of this last night and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I think that you also need to realise that Mudcat is more than just a forum and that in many ways, it is a community so a certain amount of chat is inevitable.

Perhaps you should bear that in mind before criticsing. From my own point of view, I have somewhere in the region of 20 contacts around the world that I would dearly love to meet and have fairly regular correspondence with as a result of Mudcat without even thinking about the number f posters that I have tremendous respect for... Do yourself a favour - join in once in a while.

No.. I probably won't get used to it.. if infact that is the cast, that yesterdays show was indicative of the amount of 'talk' that goes on... then I likely won't bother coming back...

Just not what I'm interested in listening to...

And if Max (host?) is so concerned about upgrading hardware with little or no money, then he'll consider dropping the usless video feed... to extend the bandwidth that he has access to...

switching off the video (it is an option from the archive) might cut down the net congestion...... as far as the amount of music goes ... today was about normal.... there is a lot of talking... and people phoning...... and there is usually a chat room going too so we can interact with Max and Bert....... it's not supposed to be "professional" its fun...... just a bunch of friends having fun and playing some music on the radio....

First timer tongiht... neat show... But I wanna ask...

Someone mentioned something about turning off the video, during the show... was there anything made of that? 'Cause if it can be done, I'd like to do it as well... It's not like the video is an integral part of the show... After all it is supposed to be RADIO no?

Also, is there always this much talking on the MudCat? I tuned in to listen to music... and I didn't really get much considering the amount of yacking that was going on... Or was this just a symptom of having whats-his-names album and having him on the phone?
