Subject: RE: Cardiff sing arounds and folk clubs..... From: Kernow John Date: 09 Mar 00 - 05:48 PM Rebecca You can't be to far away from a great music shop called Marcus Music in the grounds of Tredegar House Newport.I went up there from Cornwall last year to buy a bowed Psaltry and Marcus had copies of a magazine that listed all the clubs and sessions around. I'm sure he'll be able to help and give you all the info you need along with an invite to the Folk Festival there (in May I think). Hope this helps. regards Baz. |

Subject: Looking for Cardiff sing arounds... From: GUEST,Rebecca Brown Date: 08 Mar 00 - 09:43 PM Hi there, I hope that somebody can help me. I'm looking for a local folk club or sing arounds that I could go to. I've been involved with the folk scene since I was very tiny but since I've moved to Cardiff I've been unable to find much going on. I go to Folk Camps about four times a year (in fact, I've recently been asked to lead a few...) but that isn't enough to keep me going. I'm really looking for a nice friendly bunch of people where there's representation of every age group and style of folk music. I'd like to spread my wings and learn some new tunes and songs without worrying that I'm gonna look silly. Somewhere in Roath or Cathays is best, but travelling further afield is possible. Perhaps, even, if enough people show an interest I'd be able to set up a sing around in Cardiff's Student's Union, where I work. Thanks for taking the time to even read this...
