If you are interested in listening to folk music online be sure to check out the other threads concerning the subject. Especially:

Update of Audio Folk Music on the Web Folk music all day on the Internet

or filter for as far back as you want to go on "Radio", "Real Audio" or "internet". With the "Radio" filter you get the added advantage of links to all of the Mudcat Radio threads.

As I have mentioned before in the last two years we have gone from having folk music on the web be a rare thing to having so many sites that it is difficult to separate out the good from the bad.

JAB.

Another good site for folk radio on the internet is http://www.wumb.org (Univ of Massachusetts in Boston), though their live radio feed is down as I write this. -Tom

I guess that was a little ambiguous. In case somebody was worried, I went to the ER to see a patient, not to be one! The baby was fine.

Here's a good resource for those who, like me, don't have a ready source of good (i.e., folk/acoustic) music on the radio. The WKSU Folk Music Channel is a great source of archived radio shows from Kent State University's public radio station. (That may bring back memories of 1970 for some of us...)

Having spent many hours listening to some wonderful folk music shows in Philadelphia and Portland and Seattle, it's a real pleasure to be able to listen to the music when I'm here in the office after hours catching up on work, which seems to be often. (I can't really do it at home because I'm on cellular there and the connection is lousy.)

You need the RealPlayer plugin, which is easy to get. The site also has a link to the playlist for each archived show, so you can pick which one you'll like. I highly recommend the New Year's Eve show. The shows tend to favor the (dare I say it?) singer-songwriter, genre, rather than trad, but there's enough of a mix and enough of a choice that most 'Catters should find something to like. Besides, I tend to like singer-songwriters because I are one, kind of. I know there are other sites, but this is the first one I found and I'm lazy.

Oops, gotta run to the ER. Try it, you'll like it!

Aloha,
Mark
