Only reminds me that there are lots of songs about Bantry Bay. The one I am looking for is the soppy one that The Irish Tenors and John McCormack and pub drunks sing called "Bantry Bay". ("...All peacefully from Bantry Baayyyyyyyy! "Shut yer gob, it's practically daylight yew bastards, etc.")

yours, Peter T.

Bantry Girls Lament
Oh[E}who will plough the fields now
And who will sow the [B7]corn
And [E]who will watch the sheep now
[A]And [E]keep them [B7]from all [e]harm
And the stack that's in the haggard
Un-threshed it may re[B7}main
Since [E]Johnny lovely Johnny
[A]Went to [E] fight the [B7]King of [E]Spain

Hope that helps
Baz

Dear Sorcha, no, that's a different song. Cute too, but different.

Peter, when I put bantry bay in the DT search box, I got 2 choices, click on Star of the County Down, and you get words, with chords. Is this it?

Does anyone have handy, or can bring to mind, the chords for "Bantry Bay"? I have a friend who wants to sing it at a party for her mother this weekend. We have the lyrics in the DT, but I need guitar (or piano) chords. Much appreciated.
yours, Peter T.
