I looked it up in a Dubliners's songbook: they write: "cradle cake"

Thanks for the help with those words. I thought it sounded like "cradle cake" or "cradle take" at the end of the first line, but neither seemed to make any sense. Still, it rhymes with the rest of the verse.

The end of that first of the three lines sounds like 'take' as well. The third line is right enough.

The form processor seems to have done some damage to my layout of the lyrics in the verse, so I'll try and put it differently:

It's the verse beginning "When I was young and...." and I can't make out the end of the first or third lines of the verse. I think I've more or less got the rest of the song.

I've been trying to learn the song "Jar of Porter" from a Dubliners CD, but can't quite make out all of the words in verse 2:

When I was young and No drop of milk now would I take My father "Give the child a jar of porter"

If anyone knows the song and can supply the missing bits, I'd be very grateful.
