Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Rc, C of E, ... From: GUEST,TAnnison Date: 16 May 00 - 04:01 AM I think the tune was "Mademoiselle from Armentieres" but I'm not certain about that. And I'm sure it was bawdy enough that I shouldn't have been singing it at 8 years old! |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Rc, C of E, ... From: Bob Bolton Date: 10 May 00 - 07:23 PM G'day Tracey, I will have to let that one percolate among the backwaters of the grey cells for a little while. I can hear the tune that likely belongs to those words, but I can't remember the words of the song attached (not the same, but an obvious relative/ancestor/descendant). If it surfaces before you get other assistance, I will be back. (Actually ... I think it sounds like the rhythm pattern of an "Irish" comedy song about "Old Dunn, Young Dunn, Middle Dunn and Under Dunn" or similar.) Regards, Bob Bolton |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Rc, C of E, ... From: Joe Offer Date: 10 May 00 - 03:18 AM Hi, Guest - Rick didn't have anything to add, but he refreshed the thread and brought it to the top of the Forum Menu by posting a new message to it. That made me notice it. I checked the one songbook I thought might have it, but had no luck. Maybe somebody else will know it. If there's no answer in a day or two, find the thread using our "filter" and post a new message to refresh it. Messages disappear from the menu if nobody posts a new message in 24 hours, but you can always find it by putting C of E in the filter box and setting "age" to an appropriate time, like three years. -Joe Offer- |

Subject: RC, C of E, ... From: GUEST,Tracey Date: 09 May 00 - 06:06 AM I winder if anyone out there remembers an old British Army song from WWII that has this in the chorus : "There were RC's, C of E's, ??? and Infantry, ???, bombardiers and the Lancashire Fusiliers" I can't remember any more of it than that, but I'm sure it was funny, if not somewhat bawdy as well. Did anyone else's Grandad sing this one to them? |
