Who diagnosed you as tone deaf, Voyager? I have doubts that tone deaf people would be interested in music. If you enjoy different tunes and can distinguish between them, you are probably not tone deaf.

Your message hints at a lack of confidence in your writing, i.e. tone deaf, three chord specialist. Doubt is familiar to most writers. You have interesting lyric phrases - Homeless Heart, New Right's All Wrong, We Moved the Line, If You Were Water.

Now there's an inspirational title for a Country Song!!!!

I MAY BE TONE DEAF, BUT I KNOW A SAD SONG WHEN I HEAR ONE

Well, the words that you sing are all happy,
They're chock full of peaches and cream,
You got bluebirds and sunshine and rainbows,
and dream after dream after dream --
But I look at your mouth, and I look in your eyes,
And I watch you trying to get you some fun:
I can't keep a beat, can't carry a tune,
But I know a sad song when I hear one!

I come home from work, and I ask you what's new,
You smile and you chatter and you get me a beer,
How the kids are so sweet, and your life is so fine,
But though I'm tone deaf, I don't like what I hear.

All the music you play is so fast and so loud,
It's upbeat and dancing and full of bright lights,
And it never gets sad, and it never goes blue,
And it always surrounds you, far into the nights.

So I look at your mouth, and I look in your eyes,
And I watch you trying to get you some fun:
I may be tone deaf, can't carry a tune,
But I know a sad song when I hear one.

Sure, Voyager, sounds interesting! I'm a music man myself...takes a lot of inspiration for me to write lyrics. I am a big fan of country music, been listening as long as I can remember...would be glad to write a melody for your song! My email is ossian47@hotmail.com
