refresh. Just wondering since I got no response from Guest, Anika but she lives in my neck of the woods--maybe she lost the thread when it dipped below the 1-day horizon, or hasn't been back.

Just got back from a fiddle orchestra rehearsal in Sharbot Lake. Ran into Magoo (more or less literally) downtown, so it's Blue Skies week for sure--he's the perennial emcee, who has been described as "rodeo clown par excellence."

Appears the whole week leading up to the aptly named Blue Skies is going to continue to be pouring rain...however the Leaden Skies Festival doesn't have much of a ring to it.

Like a dummy I mispelled the title of this thread so it doesn't show up in a search...its not really Blues Skies, folks, although I kinda like that.

Anika: Shadowfax on Gore St. had some day passes, they also have been at Ottawa Folklore Centre, Brian's Record Option and Tara Natural Foods in Kingston.

There will definitely, not probably, be day passes for sale at the gate--they reserve 100 each day, first come, first served, starting at 8 a.m. Oskar says they usually sell out Saturday by noon or so (I'd go a lot earlier than that) and not that early on Sunday.

Another Perthite eh? Haven't you had enough festival after this past weekend? :)

By the way do I know you? I'm Bill Cameron from McDonalds Corners. Drop me an email at bcameron@superaje.com and I'll put you on my Musical Notes newsletter list where I circulate info like this, concert tips and stuff about The Schoolhouse community arts centre here in the Corners.

But on the Cat I am...

I live in Perth, Ont..You say that there will "probably" be day passes at the gates. Do they sell out? If so,is there a place near me to purchase day passes to ensure that we will have one?

Anyone within reach of Eastern Ontario who might be interested in coming to Blue Skies Festival next weekend, you can probably get day passes at the gate ($20) and free camping is available where I live, about 20 minutes from the site. (my neighbour has a big Ceilidh & campout in his back pasture every year on this weekend.) Blue Skies is held at Clarendon Ontario, just north of Sharbot Lake which is 80 miles west of Ottawa on Hwy 7. On-site camping is sold out as always.

As always, it'll be great. I have a pretty jam-packed weekend, but I'll be at the festival on Sunday. GIVE ME A SHOUT IF YOU'RE COMING THIS WAY!!!!!

Sat. afternoon- Connie Kaldor; Sat. night- Cindy Thompson, F'loom, Comadre Florzinha, Willie P. Bennett, Still on the Hill, Colin Linden Band

Sunday Night- Blue Skies Choir, Montreal Guitar Trio, David Francey, Martha Wainwright, Matapat, Mighty Popo; the guest-sets on Sat: Jason Fowler, Darlene Sovran, On Sun: Laura Bird, Chris McLean, Washboard Hank

Sunday afternoon, early, also marks the festival debut of an outfit called the Blue Skies Community Fiddle Orchestra. (I'm the one with the beard. -W-O) And the square dance on Sat and Sunday at 4 pm is always a great stomper with a come-one-come-all pickup band (last year or year before, I think we had 13 fiddles, which is why I habitually play mandolin)

It'll be swell! Contact me for more info.

Willie-O
