Subject: Gardening on a sunny afternoon From: Grab Date: 10 Aug 00 - 09:35 AM A parody I came up with over the last couple of weeks. Thinking up new lines for stuff keeps me from getting bored when I'm cycling to and from work. Any suggestions or additions, feel free. And apologies to the Fab Four... Gardening on a sunny afternoon Graham Bartlett (Grab) Charlie Dimmock, where are you, Here's a garden you'd refuse. Digging on a sunny afternoon, As I tend my plot, It's taking every hour I've got, I'm sweating on this sunny afternoon. Help me, help me, help me prune these trees, I'd swear this bramble's trying to eat me. And as I cut and trim and hoe and feed, I wish to God that I could be Lazing on a sunny afternoon, In the summertime, In the summertime. Mission Impossible's what I need, Ethan Hunt, come and see, This garden self-destructs in five seconds. Wildflowers may smell sweet But I'm sure a garden doesn't need These stinging nettles, six-foot thistles and bracken. Slash-and-burn is sounding awfully good, Just pave the lot and use what's left for firewood. Yes, Agent Orange is what I need, Then at last, I can be Lazing on a sunny afternoon, In the summertime, In the summertime. Grab. |
