I'm sorry for being so over the top with you Doug, you caught me while I was already on a rant, and I unleashed it at you. No offence meant....Does the government take care of people?

I am interested in problem solving, and in finding solutions to our world wide concerns. While the corporations provide some with high paying jobs, they also dictate environmental policy, medical plans, and lifestyles. I do not believe the unspoken assumption that "corporate policy is respectable and represents family values." Where do we draw the line?

Who is representing the the common man with multimillion dollar lobbies, and infleuence? Does the Environment pay huge salaries to legal professionals to fight for proper treatment?

These are just questions that occur to me. I am no genius.

Thomas the Rhymer, you are an interesting guy. I take it you would, given the opportunity, abolish big corporations. As I have pointed out in so many other threads before, what would you suggest the folks employed by those corporations do to earn a living? Or perhaps you view it as the government's job to take care of EVERYBODY! :>)

If you ask me, and I know you didn't, the Liberals as you called them DougR, were more likely to debate, stimulate, and find answers. The term 'liberals' is IMHO a sleasy come on for patriotic parrotism. The very notion that we have professional politicians, is creepy to me.

But, back to the points... debate often implies that there is one correct side to an issue, and in the BIG issues of the day, housing people, feeding people, and health care, there is no right side, only specuation and special interest groups. But sick people and the environment have little money to spend on protective legislation, so.... lawyers are always figuring out how to use the HUMAN legal system to rape the environment, and to pillage the sick...

These liberals, as you call them, are often frontline fighters in the trenches of our economy, and are grasping for WORKABLE answers. Those top down administrators, corporate managers, and OLD MONEY silver spoon recipients, that do not qualify for your word 'liberal', may not be able to see the difference between family values and the corporate creed.

I do believe that a democracy is by and for the people.... since when does the impersonal corporate infrastructure get legal protection and government subsidies, AND CANDIDATES WHO TOUT DEMOCRACY? While at the same time screwing it to the American public about how free individuals are to 'ONE STOP' shop for candidates who can't be troubled to even get a job, or do one damn thing that isn't building walls for the aristocracy of venure capitalism.

Who is the liberal here? People who know that the way things get better, is to be OPEN MINDED TO IDEAS THAT CHALLENGE TRADITION, ESTABLISHED INSTITUTIONS, ETC; *Websters.

This country was founded on this "LIBERAL" foundation, and now old money has encrusted our old values with reified statues of 'freedom',... and you have the gall to use the term like it was some kind of legal racial slur. The birthright of this country was /is LIBERAL. Read your Declaration of Independence again.

end of rant

Probably about a smuch as at the GOP convention, DougeR:-)

I don't know why they even hold conventions anymore...big waste of money...all coreographed, glitzy, and too much like airhead pablum for the masses if ya ask me...
