I am a little slow and it has taken a long while to link these two things together. I kept seeing the name and had not made the connection.

When I was in my early teens, around 1960, my father briefly got to know this 'big' American music publisher called Lou Leeds Levy. Now my father was not one to allow the truth to spoil a good story and every American, to him was 'big' in something. So I did not take too much notice.

My father did tell this chap that I was very interested in music and that I was learning to play the guitar. The next thing I knew was that I was being supplied with vast quantities of very high quality sheet music, guitar tutors and music books of every kind.

I don't think that I ever met this chap myself and I don't think that I realised until recently, the value of what he provided for me and quite how much help to me all this stuff was. Or living in the UK, quite how 'big' in music publishing this chap was. It was very nice of him to take the trouble.

Lou Levy.
