A method I use to retrieve a thread I want to visit again is to COPY [& SAVE in HTML FORMAT] the ADDRESS URL at the top of the page of the thread being VIEWED to a FLOPPY DISK [or to a DIRECTORY on the HARD DRIVE]

One floppy will hold many moons of mudcat madness

Michael, first you need to become a member of Mudcat so that you can have access to the function called "Personal Pages." Then, alongside each thread name you'll find the word "trace" in blue. When you click on it, it'll go to the Traced Threads section of your personal page. This makes it really easy to find old threads you were following with interest. If you're a member you can also send messages directly to other members, which is a helpful feature when you don't want to clog up a thread with stuff of limited relevance but want to respond to a specific person, etc... Membership is totally free and there isn't a single string attached. Find out more by clicking on the membership thing on the masthead. Margaret

The other thing you can do, if you can't remember the name of the thread, or when it was, is put a click on the name of someone you know posted there (maybe yourself), and work through what comes up.

John....If you can remember any word in the thread title, enter that word in the filter box and set the refresh to a period you know will catch it. I often don't recall whether a thread was "about a month" old so I set the refresh at 90 days instead. Sometimes a keyword is spelled wrong and that can be a problem too.

John, go to the box that says "age" and change the "1 day" to a longer time, say three or seven days, then hit the "refresh" box next to it, and then you should be able to scroll down and down until you find what you're looking for. If you're newish to mudcat, it might be beneficial to read the teal-colored FAQ thread at the top of the thread list. It's got lots of helpful info on how to use the cat. You can also put a tracer on a thread if you suspect you may want to return to it later; the list of threads that you have put a tracer on will show up on your "personal page." Sorry to be so thick. What's the easiest way to retrieve a thread that's gone off the front page recently? I can't seem to call up anything with the forum search.
