Here's something I just posted on the thread Peter mentioned which fits in here:

I've been trying to work out why it is that the Mudcat has this speeded up metabolism, so that a year feels more like four or five, and people talk about stuff that happened 18 months ago as if it was from some past era, golden or otherwise. People have referred to it as a sort of soap opera, and that is one thing it shares with soap operas, the speed with which some plot line suddenly erupts.

And set against that, because of the archived threads, you get the slow interrupted plots, where a song search goes on over years, getting nowhere and then getting to unexpected treasures.

I only hope that nothing happens that gets in the way of the Mudcat developing - I want to see what happens to it over a few decades. Which in Mudcat time will be a few centuries.

Yes, can you imagine what a Year-End Review would have looked like -- even before LLanstock and the Getaway and the rest on our current horizon. All kinds of goodness, some gruesomeness, much learning, great stories, much much music. And more get togethers. Not to mention the capturing of Sgt. Kat and her Howling Mudcat Commandos.

yours, Peter T.

Happy birthday, Mudcat ! I've met some amazing people here. Not here quite a year yet, but it seems like an old friend. Thanks for starting this thread, Peter T. Wouldn't have known when the 'cat started otherwise.

I have been so busy I forgot the Mudcat's 4th birthday at the beginning of this month! (McGrath of Harlow's thread just reminded me). Sorry, Mudcat old pal. Belated felicitations. Many more. yours, Peter T.
