You can always tell what time it is in Mudcat land (approximately) by looking at the time of the most recent post. Rarely does more than a couple of minutes pass between posts during the busy part of the day. To see the time of the most recent thread, go to the "Forum Home" page, click the "Refresh" button, then look at the next line AFTER the Perma-Threads.

EST is 5 hours earlier than GMT. so 1930 is (ick) 0030.

One big problem we have with the Hearme is that we haven't a clue what EST is! How does it relate to GMT because everytime I go to Hearme everyone has gone!! Is there any protocol in setting up a session or can I just gom for it?? Friday nights suit me best between 8pm (GMT) and around 11pm. Is it considered compulsory to sing?? I probably would but only if the mood takes me.

Go to "Quick Links" up at the top and select "Aine's Hearme Page," then click "Go." As Dave O pointed out, Sun night is the usual time for the singing/chat to start, but anyone can announce in a thread they're going there and others may show up.

There isn't a chat here, just a forum/message board, but Max is working on it.

There is not, at MudCat, a realtime chatroom. What you wrote and what you're reading is it.

BUT....

We also have what's called HearMe "associated with" MudCat. This is both text chat and audio, so that we can sing or play for each other, and text chat can go on simultaneously. Join us many evenings--reliably on Sunday night, and other evenings depending on who shows up. Things start warming up about 7:00 PM EST.

You'll find the URL and/or a link in the Links option (where else?) and I think in the FAQ thread at the top of the threads list. I'd put it in here but I haven't mastered the technique of entering a link.
