Subject: RE: BS: History is prolog From: Naemanson Date: 02 Nov 00 - 08:10 AM It's interesting to speculate what this election would be like if Clinton hadn't been caught (p)laying with the intern. Or if more people realized the only difference between Clinton and all of the rest is that he gaot caught. Mel Brooks said it best. Powerful men gotta screw something so let 'em have a mistress or two. That keeps 'em from screwing the country. (Heavily paraphrased.) |

Subject: History is prolog From: kendall Date: 02 Nov 00 - 07:15 AM In 1976 Jimmy Carter ran against Ford for president. The voters were so mad a Ford for pardoning Nixon, that this outsider won. He was a nice guy, but, not equipped to handle the job. In 1979 that bloated scandal ridden Kennedy ran against his own partys president, and Carter lost, splitting the democrat party. This opened the door for Ray-Gun and 8 years of massive debt, and not one balanced budget in spite of his campaign promise. Is there a similarity here? Is Dubbya another Carter? will Nader fix it so we will have 4 years of more bumbling? Claiming to be an "outsider" helped get Carter elected, maybe it will work for George too? |
