Subject: RE: Anyone know Dean guitars? From: Rick Fielding Date: 12 Nov 00 - 12:35 PM Oops guess Tony's info will be the best bet, but I remember a bit of contoversy. Dean Zalinsky got into a lot of hot water about twenty years ago by using beautiful semi-clad models (with longgg fingernails) to advertise his "youth market" oriented guitars in Frets and Guitar Player Magazine. Thanks for the reminder about Bill Craig's pants Doug. For the curious...Bill is a fine Toronto based singer-guitarist who plays the "Irish Circuit" in the States, and once dis-robed on my radio show during a hot Monday night! Rick |

Subject: RE: Anyone know Dean guitars? From: Bill in Alabama Date: 11 Nov 00 - 09:16 PM Doug-- I looked at some Deans in my local store yesterday, and I must say I was impressed with the guitars and mandolins. As nearly as I could tell, the inlay was the real stuff, and not the mother-of-toilet-seat that some cheapsters use. Bill |
Subject: RE: Anyone know Dean guitars? From: DougR Date: 11 Nov 00 - 03:06 PM Thanks, Whistledon! The model I saw had a lot of inlay. Do you know if it is real Mother of Pearl? DougR |
Subject: RE: Anyone know Dean guitars? From: whistledon Date: 11 Nov 00 - 02:36 PM Here in Florida they are rec'd from the Asian countries and assembled in their shop in Clearwater. Fine guitars and mandolins and a good crew of technicians who also do custom work upon request. Many different models with different price ranges to match. Not a bad axe. |
Subject: Anyone know Dean guitars? From: DougR Date: 11 Nov 00 - 12:55 PM I was down at my local pub last night and noted that Bill Craig, the Toronto based folksinger who was performing, had a new guitar. During a break I took a look at it and it is a real beauty. Great sound too. He bought it in Phoenix at a very reasonable price. Under $500 U.S. Anyone know anything about Dean guitars? DougR P. S. to Rick: he said it was his pants, not his shirt. |
