Joe — yeah, that's right. I had them double-spaced thinking it would be helpful for people writing in the chords above the words.

Won't do it again.

Thanx,

david

David - You had a number of the lines double-spaced, and I cou'ldn't quite make sense out of that should be where. I changed to what I think it should be. Is it correct now?

Oops! Looking at the liner notes of the CD today and found I'd attributed this to the wrong writer. It was written by Gary Nicholson, not James Cotton.

Just learning the song above and, since I was typing it out anyway, I thought I'd send it to M'cat for others to enjoy. The lyrics are my take on what he's singing, and if anybody else has a better ear I'd appreciate any corrections.

LIVIN' THE BLUES
(Gary Nicholson)
Recorded By James Cotton

Woke up this mornin', my pillow was wet
Guess I knowed this was good as it would get
Made me some breadfast of orange juice and gin
Started to think about the shape that I was in
It was all I can do to keep from goin' down
Got me a ride to the hard part of town

Found a funkery bar on a funkery street
I never thought twice what could happen to me
Stepped in the bar and started drinkin' doubles
Pourin' down whiskey and pourin' out my troubles
Went to the jukebox and found the saddest song
Played it over and over till my money was gone

I'm livin' the blues, livin' the blues tonight
I'm livin' the blues, livin' the blues tonight
I'm in no mood to get myself together
Feel so bad I don't wanna feel better
I'm livin' the blues, livin' the blues tonight

Come here, baby, let me buy you a drink
But don't you even start to think
That maybe me and you maybe could have something nice
Belive me, baby, you don't wanna pay the price
You said "Let's fall in love." You must be jokin'
I've been burnt so bad my heart's still smokin'

I'm livin' the blues, livin' the blues tonight

INSTRUMENTAL BREAK

REPEAT CHORUS^^
