Subject: RE: Tune Req: Joy in the Morning From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 10 Dec 00 - 09:10 PM There's a setting for two treble voices and piano by Brian Holmes: Carol of the Field Mice. I believe there's also a setting by one James Angel, but I don't know where you might find it. Malcolm |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Joy in the Morning From: Joe Offer Date: 10 Dec 00 - 08:38 PM Allison, from the context of the story, I got the impression the carol may have come from an earlier source. Do your resources say if it's from Grahme, or is it earlier? -Joe Offer- |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Joy in the Morning From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 10 Dec 00 - 07:30 AM I know two different tunes, but neither is transcribed. I will see what I can do to get them into midi. One is from the clay-mation video that was around some years ago and is a bit insipid; the other is a children's choir arrangement and is boisterous and fun. I'll have to wait till Monday to get it from school, though. |

Subject: ADD: Joy in the Morning (Wind in the Willows) From: Joe Offer Date: 09 Dec 00 - 11:29 PM Well, Let's post it. It IS a great poem. -Joe Offer- CAROL Villagers all, this frosty tide, Let your doors swing open wide, Though wind may follow, and snow beside, Yet draw us in by your fire to bide; Joy shall be yours in the morning! Here we stand in the cold and the sleet, Blowing fingers and stamping feet, Come from far away you to greet-- You by the fire and we in the street-- Bidding you joy in the morning! For ere one half of the night was gone, Sudden a star has led us on, Raining bliss and benison-- Bliss to-morrow and more anon, Joy for every morning! Goodman Joseph toiled through the snow-- Saw the star o'er a stable low; Mary she might not further go-- Welcome thatch, and litter below! Joy was hers in the morning! And then they heard the angels tell `Who were the first to cry NOWELL? Animals all, as it befell, In the stable where they did dwell! Joy shall be theirs in the morning!' from The Wind in the Willows, By Kenneth Grahame, 1908. The entire story is available here (click). -Joe Offer- |

Subject: Joy in the Morning From: GUEST,Hotspur Date: 09 Dec 00 - 09:34 PM There's a beautiful poem in "The Wind in the Willows," called "Joy in the Morning." I know it's not a traditional carol, but I wondered if anyone has written a tune for it? |
