Subject: RE: BS: Christmas message from Big Mick From: Amos Date: 25 Dec 00 - 03:22 PM Mick, and Max, and Spaw, and Art, and Jen, and MM and LEJ, and all you Great Catters: As another erstwhile enthusiast who has tempered my time on this wonderful place, a withdrawal I count as a triumph of self-discipline, let me chime in: You are each and everyone of you miraculous fine minds, hearts and souls in the great orchestral masterpiece of the world. I count among my blessings having the pleasure of crossing time and place with you here. Thanks for the depth and the joy and the intensity and the pure-dee cussed ALIVENESS you constantly bring forth and freely offer. May another wonderful year treat you even better, bring you challenges and the howling joy of meeting them successfully, bring you words that touch you and notes that elevate you and prosperity that enables you to flourish in the world, hot-souled and truth-breathing, doing well away and beyond your greatest hopes. With warmest affection, Amos |

Just like the one's you got me hooked on singing at Getaway...Merry Christmas, Mick. Stretching the range (and our understanding) is always uncomfortable...but with friends available for a helping hand, home is always downhill with a candle lit for welcome. R Blessings Tinker |

Subject: RE: BS: Christmas message from Big Mick From: GUEST,Art Thieme Date: 25 Dec 00 - 03:08 PM Mick, It's the old crowd that's responding to you here now it seems. Many of us seem to be here less for whatever reason. Just know we're lurking more too---- and enjoying it selectively -- and contributing when I've got what is wanted. That instead of getting bent out of shape like I used to did when things folk gave way to BS and newer non-trad-folk. But it's so good to hear from you. One of these days we'll actually meet face to face. Did I send you the poem I put down last night? If not, I will. It may relate to where you're at these days. I've been having a terible time trying to jump-start my cookie again. Whatever I try, it ain't good enough. Joe or Max, please come to my aid. Sorry I'm so cyber inept. Am tired of being Edgar A. GUEST ! Here's to a fine New Year for us all. Art

Subject: RE: BS: Christmas message from Big Mick From: Bill D Date: 25 Dec 00 - 11:27 AM *standing in a shadow, betraying just a bit of Scots envy at the eloquence of the Irish, Mick...but nodding and feeling the power of those words....and the replies* 'tis an amazing place we have here...a family in almost all senses, with all the pains and joys and silliness...I think maybe this place sometimes is my low "D" whistle.... |

Subject: Christmas message from Big Mick From: Big Mick Date: 25 Dec 00 - 09:43 AM It's morning, little Ciara has happily opened her presents, and I have a quiet minute before taking off to make the rounds of family and friends. I have been absent, mentally and cyberly, from the Internet in general, and the Mudcat specifically a bit lately. Not sure why...........I think it has to do with letdown after a very tough year, ..........and with friend Darla's worsening condition.........she probably won't see spring............but anyway, I have felt the need to spend time on the hill with a low D whistle, and more time in the land of the living. But as I sit here I realize that the friends I have here in our little village are as good as any I have anywhere. I monitor the forums pretty steadily, and contribute where it really hits me. I will be back in a regular way soon, just need to rest and regain the passion. Know that, at what is a blessed time of the year for me, you are all in my thoughts, and I feel a special love for this place and you, my friends, who inhabit it. May that which you find holy bless you. Max, I want to send a special message of love and friendship to you. You are an old soul in a wonderful young man. I have found in you a wise and a true friend. You have created a wonderful thing that has a life of its own. I know that this is a burden,.........and I am sure that at times you must wonder why you ever started it.........I know that it must cause you stress because so many people around the world now "live" here, and as it becomes harder to maintain you are faced with pressure to keep it going. No matter how it goes, my gift to you is undying gratitude, and kinship. Love ya, buddy. Always will. And Anam Cara, yk. Mick |
