I should have added that Sharp collected the song in 1916, and Sharp/Karpeles has no notes on the song.

One verse with tune as #116 in Sharp and Karpeles, 'English Folk Songs from the Southern Appalachians'. I have an Obray Ramsay recording on PRESTIGE/INTERNATIONAL 13020, 'Folksongs from the Three Laurels'.

can anyone help me out here... I'm looking for the writer of a song called Rain And Snow. All I know is that it's from the 70's or earlier, and it's been sung by several people including Del McCoury.

The first few lines are:

Well I married me a wife
She gave me trouble all my life
Ran me out in the cold rain and snow
Rain and snow, rain and snow
Ran me out in the cold rain and snow

please send any thoughts to me at
krispy@kilkenny.demon.co.uk
thanks
Kirsty
