Thanks, Ivan and John, I'll give that a try.

Hi Mark, you can go to File/Setup/Advanced Sound Control and experiment with the settings there. Boxes 1,3,5 checked seems to be a common suggestion.

In addition to this, you can go to the Paltalk Help Groups from the Group menu and visit one of the help groups there where someone from PalTalk will try to help you sort it out.

Jon

Mark, when we Mudcatters first started using Paltalk, someone in one of the other groups told Jon Freeman that the best sound was produced by entering Setup (from the first Paltalk Window after login) clicking on the Advanced Sound Control tab and unchecking all but boxes 1, 3 and 5. It's worked for some, others not, but, if you haven't already, you might try those settings.

I've had two wonderful nights on PalTalk recently, some incredibly good music. But I've been frustrated because when I try to sing it sounds to everyone else like I'm trying to sing and snorkel at the same time. I've heard touches of that with other people, but apparently it's totally garbled my offerings. It sounds a bit like when your CD is dirty or scratched. I suspect, in my low-tech understanding, that the "packets" of data are not being reassembled properly after scooting around the world. Any techies out there with any ideas for changing settings, etc. that might fix this? I'm connecting through a dial-up ISP, using either Netscape or IE, with a "56K" modem and a 550 MHz laptop.

I confess that I did not like PalTalk at all at first, and missed HearMe, but I've heard a fantastic mix of old friends and newcomers and I'm hooked! I also like the fact that people open the room frequently, instead of just on Sunday evening. But I would like to sing without everybody making drowning jokes.

Aloha,
Mark
