A certain friend of mine and I argue (OK, I mean discuss less quietly!!) all the time over religious things. I'm not sure how to tell my friend that every time I use spell checker, it wants to change his name to Jesus! Really!! One of these times I will be too tired and going too fast and click CHANGE instead of IGNORE!! I've tried to get it to add the name to the dictionary, but so far it hasn't.

So I call it the spielchuckler. Right now I am busy trying to get it to recognize Sugar Dog talk as normal.

Just imagine if you could see someone's custom dictionary. You'd learn a lot about them!

What strange terms do you have in YOURS?

~Susan

Using WP9 and Word2000 all it did for 'mousethief" was split it in to two word. If i used at at the being of a sentence, it capitalized it as a proper name. Which word processor/spell checker were you using, btw?

"Brendy' got brandy, bendy and brandi

'Maud Karpeles' came up with several: including 'mud kernel' and 'maid careless.

I did type in 'troll' and my system crashed. It could have been a coincidence. All three times.

Regards John

For burl I got 'bug'
for brendy of course 'brandy',
and for mousethief 'moustache'.

OK, I admit I used the French spellchecker, but it wasn't stated above ewxplicitely that this wasn't allowed.

Wolfgang

I was typing out a transcript of a lecture which refered to Maud Karpeles, Cecil Sharp's associate and folk revival pioneer. My spell checker couldn't handle the name and came up with the alternative 'Mad Carpools'. Any others? Burl
