Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Arson, Rape, and Bloody Murder ^^ From: Wolfgang Date: 08 Feb 01 - 04:02 AM They taught us a lot of verses back in '67, when I was over in Ireland for the first time. The only ones I remember are: We'll make Ian Paisley join the IRA... We'll make Winston Churchill a big pimple on his nose... and We'll make Mr. Khrushchev chief man of the Vatican... Wolfgang ^^ |

Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Arson, Rape, and Bloody Murder From: Uncle_DaveO Date: 07 Feb 01 - 07:04 PM I just recalled, the English exchange student had an American wife. She confessed she'd been married to him for six months before she understood the Title/Chorus line. She thought he was singing "Arse and Rape and Bloody Murder"!!!! Dave Oesterreich |

Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Arson, Rape, and Bloody Murder From: Uncle_DaveO Date: 07 Feb 01 - 05:24 PM Am _I_ embarrassed! I totally goofed on the chorus. I got confused with the chorus of "Gory, Gory, What a Hell of a Way to Die". The REAL chorus of "Arson, Rape, and Bloody Murder" is (not surprisingly): Arson, rape, and bloody murder! Please excuse the failures of my aging memory. DAve Oesterreich |

Subject: Arson, Rape, and Bloody Murder ^^ From: Uncle_DaveO Date: 07 Feb 01 - 04:47 PM Just reading a current "What Shall We Do With The Drunken Sailor" thread, I remembered this golden oldie, sung to The Battle Hymn of the Republic a/k/a John Brown's Body. This is a "zipper song", into which you can put all sorts of poetic-justice revenges against "capitalist exploiters", to be carried out "When the Red Revolution Comes". The ones I remember below are dated, I suppose, but they illustrate the principle. Endless possibilities ARSON, RAPE, AND BLOODY MURDER We'll make Eleanor Roosevelt use a Brooklyn accent when she speaks CHO: Gory, gory revolution! (3X) When the Red Revolution comes! And this one about Adlai Stevenson: CHORUS And on and on. Make 'em up as you go along. |
