Subject: RE: Help: Jones and Leva From: GUEST,Russ Date: 12 Feb 01 - 09:52 AM They get my highest recommendation. They sound great in person and have a very appealing stage presence. They are also nice people. They come from a "what you hear is what you get" sort of musical tradition. Their CDs are NOT over-produced extravaganzas which bear little relation to what they do live. |

Subject: RE: Help: Jones and Leva From: Art Thieme Date: 11 Feb 01 - 11:44 PM Dave, Carol Elizabeth Jones has one one of the finest voices for folk, country, old-timey music that I have ever heard. She and her husband, James Leva, peform in an old-time band setting although Carol has a fine CD out with Ginny Hawker and Hazel Dickens. Carol is the daughter of LOYAL JONES, the main person at The Council Of The Southern Mountains in Berea, Kentucky for many years. She was "mountain born" and the styles of picking and singing seemingly were ingested by her through her very genes and pores. I do wish Carol Elizabeth Jones would make a really solo CD---just her and her instruments. Art Thieme |

Subject: Jones and Leva From: Dave the Gnome Date: 11 Feb 01 - 06:28 AM Hi All We have been asked if we would like Carol Elizabeth Jones and James Leva to do a spot at our club. Any recommendations or otherwise? I have heard a CD, which is very good - 'country' style, music but as we all know a CD and a live act can be two different things! Any comments more than welcome. Cheers DtG |
