Ok, it's hard to find good instruments where you are, but I was in Porec, Croatia, last year, where there are two really small music/instrument shops - both had a reasonably priced vintage strat in stock. Maybe you'd get shot going to Porec, so try Trieste - there's a good instrument shop there. If all else fails, mail order from the States is reliable from places like, for example, Elderly Instruments. Make the effort to go some way to find an instrument that you like - French musicians commonly come to England to buy their gear, and American guitarists often say that vintage instruments from England are better preserved than similar instruments in the US.

Subject: The only real bluesman in Yugoslavia

Hello my bluesbrothers!!!

I'm a Hungaryan who was born in Yugoslavia (Europe) 05.11.1974. in a town called Subotica near Hungaryan border. I play a blues in a last 12 years. That kind of music is not very popular here. Because of the complete situation here in the country, I have many problems to make something that I want from my music. I first learned to play acoustic dela blues by myself, listening the classic delta blues artists like: Robert Johnson, Son House, Charlie Patton and others. That kind of blues is my first love. I have recorded one accoustic blues CD named "Good God" in autumn 1998 with my blues compaignon Lonesome Bob Tilly. With band I play something like Texas blues, more like SRV style. Stevie is my favorit electric guitar player. As you see I learned english by myself and because of that please forgive me for my errors in this message. I have only one wish: Please help me to by my first real Fender Stratocaster. It is imposible here where I live. If you think that you can help me please contact me on jenky@cg.yu Anyway you can contact me to talk about the blues & stuff I would like to meet some other blues players around the world. Thank you and bye..............Dr. of the blues
