Sorcha Dorcha's music, has been played on WBAI-FM, and there has been a request by a radio show, Tuesday at midnight--the Moorish Orthodox Radio Crusade to play Amadou Diallo. We in the band, acknowledge that there is a present labor dispute at WBAI. However, even those who are presently in conflict with the station recognize it is the only outlet for marginalized political views in New York. Therefore, we have not been asked to boycott broadcasting or listening, though other actions are planned.
The band and I would like to state that we are concerned about the issue raised by WBAI workers, who are concerned that PASIFICA's (WBAI's parent corporation) present direction may result in there being no outlets for marginalized political beliefs in the United States.
So while being thankful that the message of our music is being put before an activist American community, we hope that the parent corporation will recognize the danger of loss of this resource, vital to American democracy.
