Newbluesguy,

Pinetop will be 88 this year, but the review I have just read as late as two years ago tell me he's still got the chops. If you like Muddy Waters, and Chicago Blues and blues piano you ought to go seem him.

regards, chance

My memory is that Pinetop is a boogie-woogie, barrel-house piano player. I believe he was based in Washington, DC for some time. If memory serves me he was one of the finest examples of that style and is, if not too old now, well worth seeing.

Can any one else corroborate this?

Regards, Chance Shiver

I've just moved to a town that is having a Blues Festival this weekend. The headlining act is Pinetop Perkins. Now I've just started listening to the blues and have heard that name, but don't know anything about him (not even what instrument he plays), but I seem to remember he's pretty old. Can anyone tell me if he's still worth going to see? Will this be one of those missed opportunities I'll regret later in life if I don't go?
