Thanks all, the information I recieved was that he had just been found living as a street person in L.A.

obviously I have been misinformed, thanks for the links to the true situation.I tried to do a forum search a few times but "that page was not available"

Thanks for the link sorcha, i've had the album for 25+ years, and been singing 'You never wanted me' for all that time, it still has'nt dated. 'Blues run the game' is still heard from time to time over here in the U.K.

There was a good article on him in Sing Out! a few years ago--when he was in his early 50's, but in very poor health due to the life-long complications from the fire that injured him at an early age.

Sorry to hear he's died, but it's not surprising. Compared to the fate of 18 of his classmates, who died in a school boiler explosion, he was lucky to have the life he did. I think. Maybe.

All folksingers like to go on about their blues and hard times, but he was a guy with the right to sing the blues!

What is the latest intelligence on this? 30 years ago I heard he died, now someone tells me he's been wandering the streets of L.A. with post traumatic stress syndrome.

tried to do a search but to no avail.
