Subject: RE: Help: Noteworthy staves From: pattyClink Date: 18 Apr 01 - 10:52 AM Thanks so much for the suggestions. Problem solved! There is nothing Mudcat cannot unravel! I had not even thought about looking at 'print preview' since I was nowhere near printing. But that showed me what was going on. I just did not realize that the staff would just keep going off to the right like a tickertape, because when I would 'bump up' against the right side of my window, nothing moved that direction. After looking at Preview, I realized I could manually scroll to the right, add some more bars and keep going. Just a weird interface I hadn't seen before... You all get Good Samaritan points and may sing for the class! |

Subject: RE: Help: Noteworthy staves From: vindelis Date: 17 Apr 01 - 03:37 PM patty, are you inserting barlines at the apropriate places? I found out - the hard way - that a string of notes just would not wrap correctly. Julie |

Subject: RE: Help: Noteworthy staves From: nutty Date: 17 Apr 01 - 03:14 PM Patty - if you open "samples" there are examples of how to set up various types of staves and different types of music - that might help. |

Subject: RE: Help: Noteworthy staves From: M.Ted Date: 17 Apr 01 - 01:19 PM I haven't had experience with Noteworthy, but in other notation programs, you typically chose the number of measures in your score at the outset(16, 32, 64, etc) if you need more, you have to use a command of some sort to add measures--so just check your manual to find how to add measures. It is usually less cumbersome to work with a score in sections, anyway, and I tend to make files that include only as many measures as will fit on a page--often only four or eight measures, depending on how many parts there are--I know that many people always keep it to four, right up until the parts are extracted. |

Subject: RE: Help: Noteworthy staves From: MMario Date: 17 Apr 01 - 12:21 PM patty - the only time I have had that happen to me is when I was having memory problems with my computer. Normally you just keep adding the notes and the staff expands. (lyrics won't display if you don't have enough notes) if You want you may also send me an example to look at. lpola@edutech.org |

Subject: RE: Help: Noteworthy staves From: pattyClink Date: 17 Apr 01 - 12:17 PM Okay, Steve, I'll try to get an example for you tonight. Thanks so much for offering to help. Thanks MMario too. I don't mean it doesn't print or look right, I mean I can't add any more notes or anything--there is no 'keeping on going'. But I will be aware of the 'print preview', maybe that would give me a clue what I've done wrong. |

Subject: RE: Help: Noteworthy staves From: MMario Date: 17 Apr 01 - 12:09 PM just keep on going. The display you see is not how it prints out. The printout will break the staff in appropriate places depending on the size and the width of the paper you are using. When it does, it will add the clef etc (or Not) depending on your settings. To see how it will look printed do a print preview. |

Subject: RE: Help: Noteworthy staves From: Steve Parkes Date: 17 Apr 01 - 12:07 PM Doesn't sound like a problem I've ever had! If you want to e-mail an example to me at steve_parkes@hotmail.com I'll see if I can see what' what. Steve |

Subject: Noteworthy staves From: pattyClink Date: 17 Apr 01 - 11:47 AM Okay, Noteworthy has stumped me. I have clicked and clicked and checked the manual and the FAQs and the Forum and I'm still missing something. If Joe or anybody will have mercy and give me a clue, I would be very grateful. I create a 'grand staff', I enter notes and words, it looks great. But I reach the end of the line and it won't 'wrap' or continue on in any way. What do I do now? There's such a limited need out there for one-line songs, ya know?
