Ok, I have had a play with my version (5) of Outlook Express. The cut off for a text file appears to be 4096 characters which I'd have thought would be adequate.

If you really need a longer signature, the only suggestion I can make is to use the insert text from file option instead.

You can right click on items in your history folder to delete individual items but I would suspet that your history and therefore your autocomplete would soon fill up with unwanted URLs. Would you not be better off adding the URLs you realy want to your favourites?

Jon

You could always make your signature in 'Paint', then insert the bitmap as a picture. If you have Win98, paint will save as a jpeg, which is smaller.

Doesn't work with 'text only' email, tho'...

I gather that, because you are talking font sizes, you are using rich text or html, anyway.

The signature is a txt file on my hard disk.

Its not character size that is limited but the number of characters. I am not sure what the actuall limit is but when i go to insert it i get an error saying that its too long and has been truncated.

And i want to edit the autocomplete list rather than just delete it, it has far too much useful info to erase.

I made my signature the size it is with Format Font... I have never found a limit but then again, maybe I'm just modest (*blush*)... what have you attempted to enlarge yours?

I'm not sure what size of signature you are looking to send but you could try making a text file and setting OE to use that rather than the text typed in the text box.

I can't work out the full deatails of how the autocomplete URLs are stored but the system uses the History folder for most of it (It could be all but emptying my history folder still leaves me with some content - seems to be stuff starting without http - in the autocomplete box).

Don't know about the OE signature thing, but:
Select Internet Options from the View menu Select the Advanced tab Under the header Browsing check (or uncheck) Use AutoComplete

Outlook express limits my signature to a set size. This is really annoying and my firend has no restriction despite his signature being about 8 times larger than mine.

Does anyone know how turn this limiting off.

Bonus quesiton, does anyone know where the autocomplete URL list is stored?
