Sounds like a plan to me, Kendall! Too bad; it was fun while it lasted.
Per usual, AOL seems to behave as much like a "virus" as it ever does a "program"; I find it a little scarey that between them, Turner, and MS, they seem to be pretty much taking over the entire cyber-world. We seem to be left with very few choices except to do it their way or get out the quill pen and parchment, and learn to live without this wonder of modern technology.
The fact that an overwhelming majority of internet traffic, according to one report I heard some time ago (can't recall exact %) involves pornography, makes what I consider an alarming statement about our culture in general. "Yahoo" recently came out of the closet with it's association with the porn "industry" (I wonder if that's Unionized? - "The Brotherhood of Pedophiles & Smutmongers"... perhaps they'll go on strike & give humanity a break...) then dove back in when an unexpected storm of indignation broke over it. I avoid YAHOO like the plague now, as I do AOL - but that's sort of like boycotting China; we end up doing without a whole lot and it ends up being essentially impractible in this society and economy.
I sure hope some workable options appear, but with the Gates/AOL stranglehold on the cyber-market, I/m not holding my breath.
Now some of you have been following my political rantings on other threads & this observation may seem a little out of carachter... But just 'cause I identify generally with the "Conservative" end of the playing field doesn't necc. mean that I won't observe and criticize what I percieve to be greed, exploitation or abuse of power in the "Private" sector any less than when it raises it's ugly gob in the halls of Government beauraucracy. I have learned that conviently pidgionholing institutions, communities, or people into isolated categories and judging them accordingly can avoid the expenditure of much intellectual energy, but is ultimately disasterous in terms of community and Spirit. Having said that... WOW this text field is doing really WEIRD things.... I guess I'd better shut up before it gets worse! Later....

Your turn will come, Nutty. It is somehow related to Yahoo Instant Message Service or it has revived it on my computer. Last time it took a month to get rid of it and the porno invitations. SIGH!

Their offer to update appeared as I was closing Paltalk down. I clicked on the "No I don't want to" button and it immediately went on to automatically update it anyway.
Not overly impressed!!!

Bugsy, if it's any consolation, I did the same thing and felt like making a similar post to yours. Also, I've had a PM from another 'catter asking me if I had an old version of the install...

I noticed last week that my mother's PC has a popup free version, maybe I sould have a play.

I'm not sure how the work out what is out of date - I upgraded over a month ago, yet an old version, is still "current" on her machine, unless it expired within te last couple of days.

Jon

Last time I was in paltalk I got a message telling me that there was an update available and would I like to avail myself of it for FREE!!!!.

Being a MUG!, I said YES.

Now every time I log on I get bloody popups for Casinos and God knows what coming up on the screen!

Now before anyone comes up with the suggestion, I know you can pay $9,95 for a years subscription WITHOUT Popups, but like so many others, I'm just not in a postition to shell out at the moment.

Anyway that's my gripe for the day, and you know what they say......... FORE WARNED IS FORE ARMED!!!

CHeers

Bugsy
