Noreen--

True, no help, but amusing nonetheless. Actually we now need a cyberpunk update: "Green is the Color of My True Love's Hair." I'm sure somebody will run with that. If so, cut me in for 2%.

CC, this won't be of any help to you at all, but you reminded me of this thread : Lyr Req: Red is the Color of My True Love's Hair so I went and looked it up- it still makes me laugh, as it did at the time. You still around here, Bluesman?? :0)

Sorcha--

No, sorry; I can't add any more. Reason this is a hot item is that there's a memoir in the archive where I work in which a woman who was growing up here in 1883, about two years after the burg was founded, states that she learned three songs from her music teacher at that time. One was Ol' Dan Tucker. Like, Duh. Second was "Jersey Boys." I've Mudcatted that around before and got zippo. Third was, in her words, "I'm Up on Old Man's Castle," which to me is an odd way of putting it. As I think I said somewhere, it may even have been a practice piece deliberately written for music students, and not normally performed by the more sophisticated musicians. I think that's what they call a thin lead, but it's all there is, there ain't no more.

I appreciate your time and energy.

Chicken Charlie

Sorcha-- Thank you x2. Plus the extra stuff on the Liberty tab page means I will be in your debt for possibly 4 more lifetimes. "Old Man's Castle" or whatever is gonna take some doing; I checked Google too. It MIGHT have been a student practice piece.

Again, thanks for the help. C.C.

Mando tab for Liberty is Here, click

Colors lyrics are here, in the DT. I used the phrase true love's hair to find it.

No luck yet on the Old Man's Castle—I checked Levy and Google.

Hunting two songs:

(1) "I'm Up on Old Man's Castle" or "Old Man's Castle," or ?? circa 1880 or earlier. Could use words, music.

(2) Checked DT for the Donovan song that started "Yellow is the color..." It's not there under that name. Am I forgetting that it was called something else? If not, does anybody else have words? Got chords. (Yellow is the color of my true love's hair, in the morning, when we rise .... etc.)

(3) While we're at it, also looking for banjo or mando tab for the old fiddle tune "Liberty." Google wants to give me 8,293 hits on tunes of that name composed in the last five minutes. I need these like KimC needs another bread machine. Anybody know where to find the old one??
