Subject: RE: Joel Landy From: InOBU Date: 21 Feb 02 - 08:35 AM I happen to know that Steve Suffit has huge amounts of Joel Landy stock. Check the ticker at the Stock Exchange. Also, as an 85 % stock holder, Joel has "property of Steve Suffitt" stamped on his forehead. Now, I only say this, as a moment of truth in advertisement, with the qualification that it in no way affects the enjoyment which audiences have listening to Joel's performance, however, Joel had to stop singing several songs which poked fun at Steve Suffitt, New York Public School teachers, and had to stop mentioning that Larry Otway and Sorcha Dorcha ALSO played at the Woodie Guthrie bash, and were well recieved. This moment of truth was NOT posted by Larry Otway, but by an anonimous troll using Larry's computer and copying the way Larry can't spell. Larry is tied to a chair by his Uilleann pipes bellows strapp and is screaming, "GET AWAY FROM MY COMPUTER! THOSE GUYS HAVE NO SENCE OF HUMOR!!!" He would also like to let you know that Joel has very kindly invited him to be on his show tonight... where he will sing a few songs in spite of the third relapse of the flu and will not "out" Joel as a Steven Suffitt Industries subsidiary wholely owned and managed by the same. Hey someone else say something nice about Joel, so I can let Larry go... Anonimously yours Not Larry Otway PS Go hear Steve Suffitt as well, tallent fellow, even if he is a multi national corporation owning local tallent like Joel. This has been posted in hopes that no S.Suffitt hostile takeovers of Larry Otway also happen. He already is selling Sorcha Dorcha CDs out of his rain coat, so we have to be careful! (Thanks again Steve :-) ) |

Subject: RE: Joel Landy From: Suffet Date: 20 Feb 02 - 10:08 PM Greetings: This is an unsolicited plug! Two really wonderful performers are scheduled to appear at the People's Voice Cafe on Saturday night, March 9, 2002. One is my good neighbor, Joel Landy, singer-songwriter and host of the "Songs of Freedom" cable TV program. The other is West Coast hobo singer-poet, Banjo Fred Starner. The show starts at 8 PM. Admission is just $10 or one TDF voucher. Peoples' Voice Cafe and Workmen's Circle members pay only $7. Seniors, people on strike, and those "up against the machine" pay just $5. The Peoples' Voice Cafe is located at 45 East 33rd Street, between Madison and Park Avenues in midtown Manhattan, New York City. That's the Workmen's Circle building. If you have any questions, please e-mail Joel directly. Just click here! --- Steve |

Subject: RE: Joel Landy From: Suffet Date: 07 Jun 01 - 10:28 PM Just a note for you Joel Landy fans out there. Joel is one of the featured performers at the Woody Guthrie Birthday Bash Round Robin Songfest this coming July 15th. I just heard him rehearsing Goebbel Reeves' "Hobo's Lullaby" with Jessica Feinbloom and they sound fantastic. Don't miss them. Where? CB's 313 Gallery 313 Bowery, New York City When? Sunday, July 15, 2001 7 to 9 PM How much? $5 cover + drink purchase. Cheap night out for New York. That cover lets you stay all night and hear other acts as well. Anyone else? Yes. Erica MacKenzie Smith, among others. She's the one among us soon to be a star, and you can say you heard way back when...! Erica is going to sing "Deportees." Also: Carlos Rosello, Richard Fried, and yours truly, me over here. And some surprise guest artists whom we cannot name at this time. OK, we can name one, Amanda Pollack. But now she's no longer a surprise. Be there! --- Steve |

Subject: RE: Joel Landy From: katlaughing Date: 13 May 01 - 05:43 PM Congrats, Steve! That sounds like a lot of fun. Do you know if he has a website with audio samples? As much as I like Ochs, I'll bet I'd like this guy, too. Thanks, kat |

Subject: Joel Landy From: Suffet Date: 13 May 01 - 04:52 PM Any Joel Landy fans out there? LANDY is an anagram for DYLAN, but this guy reminds me more of Phil Ochs, the young Phil Ochs. His voice, his guitar style, his use of language, his sense of humor, and the kinds of subjects he chooses are so reminiscent of Ochs that it is almost spooky. But Joel Landy is no Phil Ochs wannabe. He has a style that is unmistakably his own. And yet...! Joel Landy produces and hosts the Songs of Freedom cable TV show seen in New York City. I just saw his act at the 22 Below cabaret in Manhattan last night -- in fact he asked me to do one song as his guest -- and I've previously seen him at the Peoples' Voice Cafe and elsewhere. I'll have the honor of appearing with him at the Woody Guthrie Birthday Bash coming to CB's 313 Gallery (313 Bowery, Manhattan, NYC) on Sunday, 7/15/01, from 7 to 9 PM. Try to be there! --- Steve |
