Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Lassie Fare/ laissex faire??? From: GUEST,Norb. Cent Date: 16 Sep 08 - 01:30 PM If you are a republican you would know that it is the foundation of that political party. It is an economic doctrine that opposes any governmental regulation of or interference in commerce beyond the minimum necessary for a (pure)free enterprise system to operate according to economic theory. Of course a pure free enterprise system with man involved can not exist because individual greed is involved, the result, if governmental intervention comes too late, the collapse of the system - the problem we have now. It also means, simply stated, the noninterference in the affairs of others. IT IS A GOOD TITLE FOR A LOVE SONG, in French the words say, "Let It Happen". |

From: SeanM Date: 16 May 01 - 02:12 AM I'd say it's the opposite of the ":^(" proposed to show displeasure on threads that one feels merits it. Thanks for answering this guy's question though. Wonder if he'll come back and get it? I'm assuming guy. Haven't yet heard of a woman named 'Steve'. M |

Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Lassie Fare/ laissex faire??? From: Jim Dixon Date: 15 May 01 - 10:53 AM I'm not familiar with the song, but I know that "laissez faire" is French for "let it happen," and The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language: Fourth Edition. 2000 defines it thus: "NOUN : 1. An economic doctrine that opposes governmental regulation of or interference in commerce beyond the minimum necessary for a free-enterprise system to operate according to its own economic laws. 2. Noninterference in the affairs of others." |
