Subject: RE: Don't Lose Your Music Bookmarks! From: MMario Date: 07 Jun 01 - 01:10 PM I wish I could get a 56 k connection clinton - at home I am lucky to connect at 28, more often at 24, and it's not unusual to drop down to 18.2 on bad days I'm lucky if it will give me a 9.6 connection. maybe |

Subject: RE: Don't Lose Your Music Bookmarks! From: mousethief Date: 07 Jun 01 - 01:02 PM With these nifty bars at the top of the new Netscape browser, I can have my favorite websites just ONE CLICK away. Why go through the hassle of looking them up on a search engine? Especially ones I use multiple times a day. Alex |

Subject: RE: Don't Lose Your Music Bookmarks! From: KingBrilliant Date: 07 Jun 01 - 12:58 PM I printed mine all off onto paper when I thought I might be imminently changing jobs. Seemed a great idea at the time - but b*ggered if I know where that paper is now..... Kris |

Subject: RE: Don't Lose Your Music Bookmarks! From: MMario Date: 07 Jun 01 - 12:51 PM some of us are on very slow phone lines - even WITH bookmarks it can take longer then you want to download a site. if you had to do a search first... |

Subject: RE: Don't Lose Your Music Bookmarks! From: Clinton Hammond Date: 07 Jun 01 - 12:38 PM Who needs bookmarks?!? If you're good with a search engine, you can find any site in mear moments... And if you have a favourite site on a certain topic bookmarked, you never go looking for new sites on that topic.. Bookmarks are over-rated... ;-) |

Subject: RE: Don't Lose Your Music Bookmarks! From: MudGuard Date: 07 Jun 01 - 11:25 AM There is a third way: instead of keeping your links in the bookmarks, create a website that contains your links... Although for musical links the Mudcat links are preferable as others may use the links as well. MudGuard |

Subject: Don't Lose Your Music Bookmarks! From: wysiwyg Date: 07 Jun 01 - 11:21 AM Three of our best lyric and tune searchers have said in the last year that they lost their bookmarks when their computers failed. I only have a few by now, for my own lyric research, but I can see already that I would hate to lose them. I know of two ways to protect them. One is to back up the folder they live in, on a regular basis. The other way is available to all Mudcat members. It benefits all Mudcatters, and can make searching your favorite sites faster, IMO. Just use the handy link-making form in the Mudcat LINKS pages, and then from there, use the "bookmark" function to toss the links you use most onto your personal page-- the ones you've listed and the ones you'll glean from others' listings. (You can even edit your own listings.) From there you can open those links anytime in a new window. In the LINKS section, they will be organized by topic, but in your personal page they will all be together. ~Susan |
