Larry ...

Thanks very much.

This is the sort of comment that makes worthwhile the hard work of putting together the type of site which I've made.

I often feel a degree of trepidation before publicising the site to folks who understand traditional music. And therefore constructive praise puts a real spring in my step!

Go raibh mile ...

Brillant, left a note in the guestbook, in fact the singing cement mixer is playing at this moment, can't figure out how to turn it off!!! But, I don't mind, can't wait to try it out on the pipes with a few crans on that final D, very nice tune, great name and good story!
Cheers Larry (Lorcan os Gaelige) Otway

True Mudcatters shamelessly plug their own stuff.

You'll only get booed off if your stuff is a load of crap. Or if Catspaw sees it;-)

Bert.

I am usually interested in finding out what other mudcatters do when not here. I am bookmarking and mudcatter sites which members give the URL for - preferably with a "Blue Clicky" so I can get straight there without needing to think at the same time.
Give us a link!
Quack!!

Definitely we'd want to know about the link! I don't check the links page often, perhaps a thread pointing to it would be nice. Or this!

Stick around, and you'll probably find that giving a link to your site, as a blue clicky, will be a useful way of responding some someone's question, or someone's comment. The same way you might do a blue clicky to some other site you've come across which seems relevant to the thread.

That's what I do anyway with my website.

Thanks a lot for this. I'll post a plug, which I won't refresh, but then I'll sign any contirbutions I make to the forums with my website address.

Cheers!

My own view is plug and that others do find it useful/ineresting. My reservation is don't do it too often as I think it can get a little irritating seeing a number of plug threads or frequent posts within other threads turned into plugs. Larry does go a bit too far for my likeing but everyone has different opinions on what is too much.

One thing I think could be a good idea is sign all messages with a URL (as Larry has done above).

Jon

As one of the primary plugers of a band (and a bloody good one, I may add) on this board, who has been booed and praised, - look old man, we who play folk music have to flogg our stuff to survive, those who work at this know it, so plug away! I for one am interested in what SERRIOUS folk musicians are up to. -

Hey Spaw! The plugomatic strikes again, eh? Thanks Derrymacash for brining this up...

As an occasional user of the bulletin board here, I would like to check out with some of the more experienced "core" users the etiquette of publicising personal websites on mudcat.

I maintain a website which contains about 50 (and growing) original tunes which are "in the tradition". The site also contains some random musings and a number of reviews.

I've posted a link in the links section, but it appears to me that the real action on mudcat is in these here pages and that if I wanted to draw my site to the attention of a large number of people to whom my site is likely to be of interest, I ought to post a link here?

What's the score? Is this something mudcatters welcome? Or would I be booed off?
