To All,

I am searching for background information on a great Hebrew folksong called Shuva Elai. The theme is that of a son who is worried over the fate of his father, who has ridden off into battle. It is my understanding that this is a song created by the original halutzim in the very late 1800's or early 1900's. Is this accurate? Does the song refer to any particular battle? Also, what is the standard tempo for singing it: the laid back folksy version by Fran Avni or the driving rhythmic version sung by Theodore Bikel?
