There is a great version of this on a CD "The Wonders of the World" by Dick Hogan, which despite having a host of famous traditional musicians such as Gerry O'Connor and Seamus Begley and others such as the Voice Squad and the RTE Concert Orhcestra on board, has no publisher details, catalogue number, nada!!

Bill D: What a great, quick response! I was at a loss how on earth to search. Many, many thanks.

In "Coal Owner and Pitman's Wife", which Ewan MacColl used to sing & which I see has made it onto DigiTrad, the latter tells the former that they are turning the poor folk out of hell to make room for the rich, incidentally giving them the chance to deliver a warning.

it took a bit to think of it as having a title...so I asked my local database...my wife. It's in the database as The Rich Man and the Poor Man

Looking at the "hell" thread, I remembered part of a song my mother used to sing. I can recall only a few of the lyrics (and have to give the nonsense syllables phonetically). Anyone ever heard a song that goes, in part, like this?

He asked the devil-um for an ice-cream sodium
Hally,hally hoolium, old Ram Jaram!
Oh, said the devil-um, this ain't no hotel-ium!
Hally,hally hoolium, old ram Jaram!
