Roger McGuinn is a genius, I don't give a cuss whether he nods his head or not, and his voice is a gift straight from God.

His solo stuff is brilliant. Ever see him live, solo ? I have.Twice. And the man is just outtasight.

You guys are probably jealous just cuz he looks as good now as he did thirty years ago, which is more than can be said for you old farts, I'll be bound.

Didn't George Harrison play a Ric in the early days of the Beatles, say '64-65?

I like Rics too. Always thought that if I bought an electric, I'd save up my pennies for a Ric 12 string. Ya gotta love that sound.

The acoustics might be great, but they'll sound like acoustics.

They won't have that Rickenbacker 'twang'

Rickenbacker has come out with two new acoustic models! The 700S Shasta MG (sounds like a race car to me), which is a rosewood 6 string, and the Comstock700C, which is a maple bodied 12 string. These guitars are big dreadnoughts, 17 inch lower bouts!

Jeff said it....There isn't a lot here about Ricks because we talk mainly acoustic.

I'm a big Petty fan but Ireally hate McGuinn. What's with the head bobbing shit? He always reminds me of one of those dolls in the back window of a car with it's head on a spring.

Ricks, for some reason, don't get the attention they deserve. They are a well made guitar. The neck-thru-body construction on the solid bodies, and the walnut wood give great tone. Some well known celebs, from Roger McGuinn of the Byrds to Tom Petty of the Heartbreakers, have played Ricks. Their basses offer a distinct sound that is unmatched. For the quality, they are a good value, the bottom of the line 6-string being under a thousand U.S. dollars. Twenty-four frets and nice looks to boot.

Perhaps they need a better marketing strategy.

This is primarily a site full of folk musicians, mostly acoustic. That said, however, I LOVE my Rick!

To me, the sound of a Rick playing lead, is probably the nicest electric guitar sound going (both 6 and 12 string)

Looking through this forum, they hardly ever get mentioned. Just wondering why?

Are you folks mostly acoustic players, or (heaven forbid) do people exist who don't like Rickenbackers?!?
