Hi there Jon! Great site that netcraft! Very revealing. The IIS server for mudcat explains the delays I think. I have four Apache servers myself - much more reliable than the 4 NTs and longer up times - but a little more detailed to config.

Just finished reading thru all the Newcomer FAQs again too. My right wrist is tired - did some marathon bodhran practice tonight.

Oh and I forgot, the most fascinating link there is the longest uptimes - note how well the Apache servers do!

You could also try entering www.jonbanjo.com - it sort of proves that the early reliability problems I had were not with me...

Captain. No need to ask some of those questions for any site. Just visit http://uptime.netcraft.com/ and type in the domain, e.g, www.mudcat.org, loki.mudcat.org, etc. under "what is this site running" and you will get a lot of answers.

You may find the FAQ/Newcomer's Guide and the Site Map (top two on the thread list) quite helpful. Welcome.

Evening, Cap'n. For the bio stuff, send a PM to Pene Azul. He;; fix ya right up. He or Max, the wiz kid who dreamt up and owns the Mudcat can tell you more about the opsys, although I am sure others will be along momentarily who also know and will enlighten both of us! Just for future reference, though, this is the type of question which is well-suited for the Help Forum, for which you will find a link at the top menu bar.

As for sites for modern Irish groups, try the seach box at the top of the thread titles, to the far left, and put in a couple of keywords. That should bring up a few relevant threads. Also, it is better to separate your questions into different threads. And if you click on LINKS, also at the top, and scroll through those, I am sure you will find a few listings.

Good luck!

kat

Evening All! I wuz checking my personal info and tryin' to figger out where the bio stuff goes? I've seen the rogues gallery and the bios, so I wuz wundering!

On the tech side, what kind of servers/system is mudcat on? I'm curious only 'cause I get some interesting delay timing on hitting the 'cat. I'm semi-technical myself so i wuz wunderin about that as well. Shucks, while I'm at it, anyone have some good modern Irish folk sites groups?

Thanks All!
